Today is dedicated to the ones who mask their worries and fears with a mere frown. I’m referring to them, whose heart isn’t allowed to spill emotions except behind closed doors. Yes, the ones we call Father.
“Daddy, Dad, Baba, Papa, Father” and the names remain an endless list of what this masculine figure in our homes are called. Their presence around us commands respect and security. With them, we feel safe. I remember growing up as a child and never having to worry about the dark or life entirely because I knew daddy would always have me covered. As an adult, I’ve come to realize the mental stress fathers have to go through, starting from the fear of being up to par as regard providing for the family with major well-being amenities. It’s a hard task that comes with no form of job description. But they always seem to have a way of pulling through.
They are our first superhero, who get things done with little or no assistance and to top it all, they still try to play the bad guy when ensuring we are disciplined as we learn to work the ropes of life. We must admit its tough love and the odds aren’t always in their favor, given the ever lenient mummy (in most cases) is by the side ready to give the hugs and kisses after daddy’s disciplines.
I’ve heard men complain about how their children prefer their wives to them. Some say it’s partial that they have to be the one acting the disciplinarian while mummy plays the candy man. Some of them even concluded that’s the reason there are so many mother’s Day and just one father’s day.
Though they put up a tough outlook, there is always a soft spot in their heart for their children, the sacrifices these adorable men make for family sakes are the foundation on which the families are built. They indeed are our silent warriors, for every home privileged to have them is indeed blessed.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL FATHER AND FATHER FIGURES.
