Getting prompts to write about myself always spurs nostalgia. Among my earliest and favorite memories, is the story of my class in primary school getting a prompt to write an essay titled ‘myself’. And for as long as I can remember, I have been in love with words, and everything that has to do with words; reading, writing, thinking and yes. . . talking too! (I promise though, that I am not talkative. Ha ha!).
Back to this memory that always leaves me in stitches; I remember writing about myself and happily letting my seatmate, copy my essay. ‘Little me’ expected a huge applause after our class teacher called both of us to stand up. Instead, we got a scolding. My classmate had copied the essay word for word! One lesson I learned from this experience, is the importance of just how unique everyone is; there are no two people who are exactly alike in every way.
One of those little quirks I have is creating lists. Lists often help daydreamers, like myself, keep track of what we should be doing to achieve our immediate goals. And in this case, I should be telling you about myself.
So, here’s a list of not so fun facts introducing me:
1. I am a pharmacist, and a writer. . .and an amateur data analyst.
I thought it’d be good to start with the less obvious facts. Even folks just meeting me for the first time, end up knowing one of these before our first meeting is over. I have a fairly compulsive tendency to offer free health counsel. Beware of me if you have a bad habit of misusing antibiotics. And you can say I am just discovering and exploring my love for data analysis.
2. My favorite number is 2.
I’m in love with this number! Maybe it’s because I’m the second child of four girls, or because my birthday happens to be on the 22nd day of January. Really, I think my fascination with ‘2’ started because in primary school, it was so easy to learn the ‘2 times multiplication table’. . .way easier than 3 or 7!!
3. My favorite-est people (ever) are my family.
I know, I know. Sounds too cliche eh? (P.S: refer to the disclaimer above. I said ‘not so fun facts’). But really, I get to do all my favourite things with them; laughing, praying, writing, reading, teasing. . .the list is endless. We also have those spats that you can’t do without when you’re with your people. And I absolutely love that we always have each other’s backs.
4. I am a terrible dancer!
As a child, I read somewhere that 98% of people look silly when dancing. Now, that’s a whopping majority! It sort of messed with my body coordination and I decided the odds were more likely that I was with the majority. Honestly, I think that being majorly an introvert kind of ties my limbs everytime I step on the dance floor. I promise though, that I am probably the most professional bathroom singer you might ever meet. . .lol.
5. I am Southpaw.
One of the last things everyone notices about me, is that I am left handed. I used to be shy about this everytime I resumed at a new school, or started with a new class in school. Mostly because, I didn’t like all the curious questions that came with this discovery. And before you ask, ‘no, I can’t write neatly with my right hand.’ ‘Also, I really don’t know if left handed people are exceptionally intelligent’.
I thought to stop while I still have your attention, and I would really love to know you too. Would you mind leaving a comment about yourself after reading this? I hope you do.
I am Esieboma Oghenerobo Joy, and I’ll be pleased to meet you.
