I’m Peter Akpejeluh. I was born and bred in the ancient city of bronze civilization called Benin City. I come from a family of seven, with me being the second child. Although I have a background in Petroleum Engineering, I gravitated towards my passion—writing—because of my love for words.
Writing is my voice when I want to be silent—and I like to be silent a lot. If I’m not glued to my laptop, writing one long-form copy or the other, I’ll be listening to some soft music
by some of my favorite artists including Alessia Cara, JP Cooper, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.
Three words that best describe me are: cool, calm and collected. Because of my quiet nature, I find it hard to keep up with people. This makes them think I’m angry at them or I’m acting aloof.
If given the option of partying with friends all night or sitting at home in front of the TV until I fall asleep, I will go for the latter without thinking twice.
Even though I don’t consider myself a foodie, I love food. A lot of people hold the belief that amala and semovita belong in the trash, but I beg to differ. Amala/semovita with a plate of Egusi soup saturated with assorted meat have been saving lives since the days of John the Baptist.
Professionally, I’m a growth-minded person. I love to go into uncharted territories with my writing. A rule of thumb for me is to always make my latest work the best. This means I have to do a great deal of learning, relearning and unlearning. So, if you were wowed by one of my works, wait until you see the latest one. Some of the writers and speakers that have inspired me over the years include: Chetan Bhagat, Chimamanda Adichie, Jordan Peterson, Gary Halbert, Ravi Zacharias, and Jeremiah Ajayi.
