How we live in a state where the dreams of our children are crushed until it becomes inexistent.
Parents and guardians deciding the future of their children and in other cases, acting as a barrier, mainly because of religion, traditions and personal interest.
We need to know that Parents do what they feel is right and want what’s best for us. I once heard the story of a young girl who had dreams. This little girl wanted to be a whole lot of things, wanted to be somebody, somebody great. Her desire to be a Medical doctor, a writer, a model and a mother, not just to those she will eventually bear but to those on the street, youths and even parents.
She loved everything, traveling, reading, skydiving, hiking, some she have done.
She had lots of hurdles in this race, though. She was allergic to dust and small particles. How would she go about modelling? Her eyes could not tolerate light because she’s photophobic and she always needed her glasses to protect her. She could not be on makeup for too long as the process of applying it will awaken her sensitivity.
Those weren’t her biggest fear; her biggest fear was she didn’t want to annoy her parents, especially her father, who loves her until he is annoyed. Her parents are religious and they stick a lot with their church’s doctrine and traditions.
Not feeling fulfilled with just settling with being a doctor, she loves science, biology science but she has dreams too. When she began face modelling, She’ll be excited until she remembers her parents.
“But God is not mad at me, I prayed to Him about my dreams and He gave me a go ahead.” She went ahead to tell her friend about her feelings and he advised she waited a little longer, not because what she is doing is wrong or her parents are right but just out of respect.
You would have all the time to fulfil your dreams as a young girl or boy. Why be the ‘rebellious’ child? You want to be a musician and you are not allowed to right now? Start writing lyrics, practice them over and over, search for mentorship classes and learn. With this, when you eventually start singing, rapping, modelling, whichever thing, you’ll be the best.
