My first male strength
If my father was still alive, I would be a spoilt brat…
I was a daddy’s little girl that would demand to stay in front alone with my father, yeah I was selfish like that.
I was trained like a boy. That of course is valid for when my father forgets to be African.
I can’t say he wanted a boy but maybe he would have preferred it so.
He loved me unconditionally and always showed it. The impact he had on my early years has a great role to play in my personality and I love him for it but I don’t think I told him or ever let him know..
Now it’s too late.
Brutal truth is that Father’s Day is not properly celebrated here and we don’t have to wait for that day. Every day you have that special hero with you, show him you love and value him. Yes, he might act macho and unfazed but know he is blushing inside.
Our Fathers have been trained to lock down on emotions, be a macho figure and not show their feelings when it matters. Can you imagine what is going on in his head when a child is ill? When bills are unpaid? When there is disharmony? Yet, he might have no one to confide him so he does not come off as weak.
Be a Darling tomorrow..
Take him out if you can..
Get him a gift that will make him giggle like a school boy.
Hug him..
Call..send a text..
Men are not so demanding gift wise but show him love, not just on Father’s Day but always.
Every minute counts.
Happy Father’s Day.
